The Crown's Claire gives fans an earful: Actress sports diamond studs as she promotes new film in New York

Having won several awards for her portrayal of the Queen, Claire Foy risked giving fans of the Netflix series The Crown a shock when she attended an event this week.

Promoting her new film, Breathe, in New York, the 33-year-old took a dramatic departure from her royal alter-ego by sporting what appeared to be several diamond studs in her ears.

It was, in fact, a single accessory.

HM, who tends to prefer classic pearl earrings, wouldn’t be too fazed: her granddaughter Zara Phillips once wore a tongue stud.

Holy moly! Amal has a ripping time in Hollywood

Amal Clooney is juggling her multiple jobs as human rights lawyer,

Hollywood clotheshorse and mother to baby twins with gusto.

Just four months after giving birth to Alexander and Ella in June, Amal, 39, found time to visit a skin clinic in Beverly Hills, California, dressed in boyfriendstyle ripped jeans and silver platform shoes, accessorised with oversized tinted sunglasses.

Actor husband George is finding his new role harder to manage, however. He admitted recently that surviving on two hours’ sleep a night means he ‘doesn’t really understand what is going on’.

‘I cry four times a day right now, because I’m so tired,’ he said.

 Abba star sings Pierce's praises

Dodgy singing should have been dubbed in the film Mamma Mia!

However, Benny Andersson of Abba praises the vocal cords of the former James Bond star.

Brosnan, 64, will be reprising his 2008 role as leading man Sam in the sequel, Mamma Mia — Here We Go Again!, alongside Meryl Streep.

Abba’s joint songwriter Andersson complains: ‘What is wrong with you Brits and Pierce’s voice? ‘Other countries don’t have a problem with it, just you! He’s definitely singing.

‘Pierce has a good voice and a very fine timbre to it. Maybe you react the way you do because you don’t expect him to sing.’
