A political sociologist with more than 15 years of experience in the field of humanitarian assistance and international development, Ms. Oguzhan first graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2001. In 2002, she earned a Master of Studies in Forced Mitigation with distinction at the University of Oxford Refugee Studies Center. Her expertise since that time includes her work in policy formulation, strategic planning, project management, diplomatic relations, fundraising, and research and analysis.

Employed with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in Bangkok, Thailand, Ms. Oguzhan's key responsibilities include social policy analysis and development including on the implications of demographic changes related to population ageing and the implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA).

Ms. Oguzhan has conducted research and analysis on many issues, including with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) in Brussels, which was mostly related to the monitoring and analysis of policy debates and humanitarian trends. She also supported UN humanitarian reform in New York at the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).

Ms. Oguzhan has also worked for the United Nations Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) at its global headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, leveraging the strategic importance of policy and programmatic issues related to the human rights-based approach to sustainable urban development. With headquarter positions mainly focused on political consensus-building, strategy and advocacy, her project management experience is most pronounced in West Africa, where Ms Oguzhan commenced her career. During her four years in West Africa, she worked as an Emergency and Reporting Officer for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) where she, inter alia, responded to humanitarian crises in Cote d'Ivoire, Togo and Liberia.

Throughout her career, she has authored various articles in her field, including on issues related to forced mitigation and international human rights law, through Blackwell Publishing, the University of Oxford, and the American University in Cairo. A British Council Scholar from 2001-2002, she was originally recognized by Who's Who in the World due to her research on the socio-economic conditions for asylum-seekers and refugees in Morocco and Mauritania.
